Patient Success Stories
The following are letters or excerpts from patient letters received by Dr. Timothy Rosio.
My wrinkles, sagging and sun damaged skin......
Although I had some prior cosmetic surgery 25 years ago, which helped greatly, I realized my 70th birthday was arriving soon and my wrinkles, sagging and sun damaged skin (sailing) were overall depressing me. This speared me to call AnewSKIN Dermatology for a consultation with Dr. Rosio. I discussed with him having an updated look, maintenance, and learning about the various options open to me. I definitely wanted a smooth and natural look.
I decided on having surgery. Without having to have general anesthesia, the surgery was relatively easy and I had only minor discomfort which was eliminated with a few oral pain relievers the first day or two. At all times I felt reassured, safe and cared for by Dr. Rosio and his expert staff.
The overall experience was excellent. Recovery was relatively rapid and I was back to routine activities at home and returned to work in (1) week. I had a wonderful response from my co-workers and my family. I truly look and feel 20 years younger and would recommend friends and family to AnewSKIN Dermatology for any skin care or aesthetic surgery improvement.

Experience With Skin Cancer
"About a year ago, I noticed a small fever-blister looking growth above my upper lip. I did not think anything of it. I thought it would go away. At times I thought it was a pimple, but it would grow & shrink yet it never went away.
I decided it was time to get it checked, so I went to look for a Dermatologist. There were 3 choices close to where I live. I chose Dr. Rosio in Folsom.
At my visit, he took pictures & did a biopsy, which came back positive for basal cell carcinoma! Needless to say, I was shocked and worried. Dr. Rosio was very comforting. He reassured me that my cancer was curable through Mohs Micrographic Surgery.
I scheduled an appointment immediately & had it removed within weeks of my diagnosis. On the day of surgery, after 2 passes to remove the cancer, I had a dime-size hole in my upper lip. I could actually feel it when I ran my tongue along the inside of my lip!
It has been about 6 weeks now & I am amazed at the healing process. If I did not tell you where to look you would never know. Dr. Rosio did an amazing job of reconstructing my lip after removing the cancer.
"If I did not tell you where to look you would never know. Dr. Rosio did an amazing job of reconstructing my lip after removing the cancer." As a credentialed high school teacher, I have been able to use my experience educating teens about the importance of good skin care. Everybody needs to know that early detection and diagnosis are very important in the treatment of all skin cancers. Don’t wait! Schedule an appointment today to see Dr. Rosio if you have any abnormal tissue growth on your skin! And don’t forget to wear your sunscreen!"

Prior to beginning treatments, my birthmark was lumpy.....
"I would like to acknowledge the tremendous contribution Dr. Tim Rosio's laser program is making to the lives of...patients. I am currently receiving treatment to correct hypertrophy of a facial portwine hemangioma. Prior to beginning treatments, my birthmark was lumpy, unsightly and bled easily; laser treatments have produced dramatic improvement. The mark's color has faded considerably; my skin is smoother; and I no longer anticipate years of difficulties with excessive bleeding. It is a reprieve I could not have imagined 30 years ago.
I am forty-five years old; I grew up with what was then considered an untreatable hemangioma covering one-third of my face. It was like being dressed for Halloween every day of my life in a mask I could never remove. We don't always understand the challenges we confront, and there were many times I wished for a choice in those before me. Dr. Rosio's program offers that choice. It is my hope that this program will receive the support an promotion it needs to enable Dr. Rosio to bring that choice to many others. No child should have to live in a mask."
I now have a nose and I can breathe.
"During the past eleven to twelve years, I have been treated (elsewhere) for many problems with skin cancer on my face, neck, arms and hands.
My initial examination was with who then referred me to Dr. Tim Rosio, the MOHS Surgeon.
Many biopsies were done on my face and neck and three biopsies were done on my nose. Many biopsies were cancerous, but the ones on my nose were extreme. The cancer had spread through the skin, flesh and cartilage. I might add that my nose was deformed due to three previous surgeries and my breathing was impaired.
The current surgery required extensive cutting and advanced surgical skill to remove all cancers and the re-building of the skin and cartilage.
After five weeks of recuperation, I now have a nose and I can breathe.
I would again like to express my gratitude to...Dermatology (Dr. Tim Rosio in particular) for the expert work in the reconstruction of my nose and continued care they are giving me."
Thank you for aiding me in curing...
competence and caring
"I am writing to express my appreciation for the wonderful treatment that I received from you and your staff for the cancerous area on my face I have seldom encountered such a wonderful combination of competence and caring over the years, and your approach and explanation of the treatment provided me with great confidence. Thank you for aiding me in curing this important medical condition, and please forward my appreciation to your staff for their attention, warmth and consideration.
(After rejuvenative procedure removing sun damage and wrinkling) I want to thank you again for making my final year of teaching even more enjoyable. I know that sounds strange but when I look in the mirror now, I feel 20 years younger. The redness is all gone and my face is smooth. I carry a closeup "before" photo, just to remind myself of what I looked like 8 months ago."
No longer ashamed or self-conscious
"(Mother of two, former model)
Embarrassed, ashamed and in hiding - this was my life four years ago. Never being able to look a person in the eye because of holes that had formed on the right side of my nose. Throughout a four-year period I sought help only to be told that the holes were caused from acne.
The holes...were not caused from acne but from cancer. I was...referred to the Mohs clinic where I met Dr. Rosio...for my first Mohs surgery. The cancer had spread from the right side of my nose through my right cheek and right upper lip. Eight hours later I was cancer free. (After) I had my second surgery of reconstruction. For the first time in four years I was finally able to look at myself and others without the oppression of disfigurement. On __ I had laser surgery - extremely successful in the reduction of scars that had remained from the previous surgery, and extremely successful in reducing the extent of the scar. Today, I am no longer ashamed or self-conscious to look someone in the eye. Dr. Rosio gave me this wonderful gift...I have nothing but appreciation and gratitude and especially to Dr. Rosio."
A Stroke of Good Luck
Mohs Technique Reassuring
"Recently I've joined the ranks of cancer victims. An extensive basal cell carcinoma was discovered on the left side of my face. It had gone "underground" and spread tentacle-like, penetrating tissue and muscle down to the bone. In 1996...apparently some of the undesirable cells escaped the original surgeon's knife. My orthopedist specifically recommended (Mohs Surgeon) Dr. Timothy Rosio. I consider that referral to be a stroke of good fortune. His use of the MOHS technique was reassuring to me for two reasons: the least possible amount of normal tissue would be removed repeatedly testing...until no cancerous cells are detected. I cannot believe, considering the large amount of tissue involved, that I am left with only a scar and some reddish discoloration easily minimized with cosmetics."
