Couple Foots Bill For Melanoma Research-Donates $40 Million.

Broadway producer Debra Black fought back successfully from melanoma three years ago. After her experience, Black and her husband donated $25 million to the Melanoma Research Alliance. As reported in the WSJ, the couple plans to donate an additional $15 million in the next three years. Dr. Rosio informs people that although 65% of melanoma cases are linked to sun exposure, the disease can also occur on parts of the body that are not exposed. In Black's case, for instance, it occurred on the bottom of her left foot, and was misdiagnosed as a plantar wart. Dr. Rosio commonly finds melanomas on covered areas of the body that were overlooked, or called something else.
