The Wall Street Journal (7/10, Douglas, Kamp) reported that the UK's Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency approved Botox [onabotulinumtoxinA] as a treatment for preventing chronic migraine headaches in adult patients. One of the studies of the drug found that it reduced headache days, which Allergan Inc., one of several makers of one of the brands of Botox, said the FDA was most interested in. The FDA is expected to make its decision on Botox as a migraine treatment soon. Bloomberg News (7/9, Pettypiece) noted that the approval in the UK "is for patients who have headaches at least 15 days a month, including migraines on 8 days."
